One Farmer Killed as Suspected Herdsmen Attack Oyo Community

After invading Oyo Community, alleged armed herdsmen assassinated a farmer.

After hoodlums attacked Oyo State’s Ibarapa Central Local Government Area, the farmer, known as Musa Monsuro, was murdered in cold blood.

According to accounts, hoodlums suspected of being Herdsmen killed the farmer on his cashew field in Araromi village, Igboora, around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 2.

While the cause of his death is uncertain, there have been rumors that armed herdsmen were involved.

Security operatives were alerted, and they proceeded to the farm on Tuesday to pick up the deceased farmer, who was transported to a mortuary, according to the residents.

Adewale Osifeso, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event to reporters in a short statement on Tuesday.

He said, “The case is undergoing investigation. You will be updated accordingly.”

Recall this is another killing coming several months after a dispute and revenge attacks between suspected herdsmen and residents of the Oyo community.

Herdsmen are said to have carried out a range of atrocities in the Ibarapa community, including killing, maiming, raping, and destroying farmlands.
