KADUNA: Boko Haram Inveigles New Members with Sallah Gifts

Boko Haram terrorists, known as Ansaru, have begun recruiting new members in Kaduna State.

During a visit to certain villages in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna State on Wednesday, May 4, the terrorist group allegedly began recruiting new members.

According to NG Times, the renowned terrorist gang began recruiting citizens by giving them presents to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr and urge them to join their ranks.

Damari, Farin Ruwa, Kwasa Kwasa, Kuyello, Gobirawa, Tabanni, Kutemeshi, and Kazage are among the communities visited by the insurgents, according to Daily Trust.

A resident testified about how the militant group preached and handed a five-page pamphlet titled “We are not Boko Haram but Ansaru” to other people, as well as flash drives and other materials.

In addition, the terrorist organization is said to have performed motorbike feats to entertain the villagers in order to lure them to join their criminal enterprise.

A resident was quoted as saying; “they visited the Kuyello area, Tabanni, Kutemeshi and also my village, which is Kazage to join the people in the Sallah celebration.

“They participated in motorcycle stunts within the communities; nobody was harmed and they warned against indulging in any dangerous play. They equally preached and shared biscuits with the people.

“With their presence, bandits will dare not attack our communities.”

Muhammadu Isa, a resident of Kuyello village, told the newspaper that many young people have indicated interest in joining the group for protection from robbers.

“In some communities, Ansaru members give residents access to their farms and guard the residents while they are there,” he said.
