EDO: Beggars to be Evacuated to Farm Settlements as Labourers

Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has said that his administration will begin evacuating street beggars who refuse to accept quality and meaningful work.

On Monday, Mr Obaseki addressed the Muslim faithful who were paying a courtesy call to the Government House.

Anyone arrested for street begging will be sent to the farm settlement to work, according to the governor.

There are lots of farm settlements, and more hands are needed to cultivate the lands,” he said, noting that if the beggars did not want to work, they would be sent back to where they came from.
