Ritualists in Osun Kill Middle-aged Woman, Cut off Head, Hands, Legs

In Osun State, three suspected ritualists were apprehended for reportedly murdering a 53-year-old woman for ritual purposes.

According to a statement released by the Osun Police Command’s spokeswoman, SP Yemisi Opalola, the terrible tragedy occurred in the state’s Ile-Ogbo area.

The three male suspects allegedly killed a 53-year-old woman, cut off her head, hands, and legs, and extracted her heart for a money-making ceremony, according to Opalola.

A 27-year-old male was also arrested, according to the police spokesperson, for reportedly sending phone texts threatening to kidnap a politician in Osun and a judge, as well as their children.

The suspect had sent a series of threat letters to his targets, demanding between N500,000 and N2 million from them if they did not want to be kidnapped with their children, according to the police spokesman.

When the incident was reported, she said, police detectives went into action, adding that the phone number used in sending the threat messages was tracked down and the suspect apprehended.

Three suspected ritualists were also apprehended, according to Opalola, who followed point-of-sale (POS) operators from their stores to their homes in Ikirun and robbed them of their money and possessions.

Residents were urged to help the police by providing timely information that would allow the state to be free of crime and criminal elements, according to the police spokesperson.
