Nigeria’s most popular game show, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” is set to return to television screens with a N20 million grand prize.
According to the organizers, the number one show, which last aired on June 25, 2017 after a successful 13-year run, would now return to the big screens, with winners contending for a weekly grand prize of 20 million naira.
The widely celebrated and highly acclaimed TV game show that keeps Nigerian families glued to their seats, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ (WWTBAM), is back, bigger and better with contestants now standing a chance to duel it out for a fantastic grand prize of 20 million every week all year long,” the press release reads.
To qualify for the main game, competitors must have the fastest finger and properly answer all questions in order to win the enticing prize.
Although no particular date for the relaunch has been announced, People’s Gazette spoke with one of the show’s executive producers, Mr. Hakeem, who confirmed that the show will premiere in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Nigerian game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM) is based on the original British formula. Frank Edoho presented the show in Nigeria, which has been adapted in over 104 regions around the world.
The show, which sees competitors attempt to answer 15 questions in order to win ten million naira, premiered on October 8, 2004 and ran for 13 years on Nigerian television until June 25, 2017, making it the longest-running show in the country.
