Anthony Joshua’s battle against Oleksandr Usyk was allegedly stopped early, with the British boxer appearing to be on the verge of being knocked out in the 12th round, according to boxing fans.
On Saturday night, Joshua lost for the second time in his career to Usyk.
The Ukrainian won a unanimous points decision to claim the title of world heavyweight champion.
In the final 30 seconds of the bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Usyk had Joshua on the ropes.
Fans have now stated that the nine seconds left on the on-screen clock did not correspond to how soon the fight finished.
The final nine seconds, as portrayed by DAZN, seemed to end in just three seconds, leaving Joshua powerless and on the verge of being knocked out.
“They rang that bell 5 seconds early lol, saved Anthony Joshua from a 12th round KO,” one person wrote, while another wondered aloud, “Is it just me or did the bell go early in the 12th round?”
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has moved to dispel the rumors, saying, “I don’t believe it happened, I saw it on the DAZN clock, but I recall clearly the ten seconds came and it was ten seconds.”
