64-Year-old Fake Lawyer Arrested and Jailed in Osun State

Folorunsho Olayanju, a 64-year-old fake lawyer, was sentenced to five years in prison by a Federal High Court in Osogbo

Olayanju was found guilty of six counts of fraud, impersonation, and stealing by Justice Peter Lifu.

According to the prosecutor, Muyiwa Ogunleye, the convict robbed one Hammed Bamidele of N2,250,000.

According to the prosecutor, the criminal cheated the victim under the guise of paying a professional charge for the prosecution of his case in the Supreme Court.

The offences, according to Ogunleye, were committed in violation of sections 383 and 484 of the criminal code, as well as sections 1(1)(a) (b) & (2) and 1(1)(c) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

Justice Lifu observed in his ruling that the prosecutor had proven the case beyond a reasonable doubt, and thus convicted Olayanju.

The inmate, who had no legal representation, begged with the court and promised that if granted a second opportunity, he would not return to such crime or return to be a fake lawyer.

Justice Lifu found Olayanju guilty of the offense and sentenced him to one year in prison without the possibility of a fine on counts two through five.

He ruled that the prison term should run concurrently with the complainant’s sentence, and that he should also return the sum of N2,250,000 to the complainant.
