Ibrahim Babangida, the former Head of State, claims his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari is still amicable. In a recent interview, IBB stated that the media have always been the problem between two individuals who are just trying to live their lives
Contrary to popular belief, there is no animosity between them, according to the retired General.
Buhari was a member of the plotters that toppled the Shehu Shagari administration in the Second Republic in December 1983, while he was a Major General.
He was later elevated to the position of Head of State, but was deposed in August 1985 when officers led by Babangida revolted.
IBB and Muhammadu Buhari met ahead of the 2015 elections as part of the latter’s campaign plan to gain the support of powerful Nigerians.
Ibrahim Babangida criticized the media for the perception that he and the President are at odds in an interview with Arise TV.
“There is no problem, our relationship is good. But you people (the media) say otherwise”, he said.
