Ten persons have been arrested in connection with the new attacks in Jos North council area of Plateau’s Yelwa Zangam village.
The attacks have been dubbed “barbaric” by Governor Simon Lalong, who has convened an emergency conference to examine and put a stop to the killings in various sections of the state.
The governor has asked security forces to strengthen efforts in hunting down the other assailants and their sponsors in order to bring them to justice, according to a statement by his head of press and public relations, Maku Macham.
Lalong is furious over the incident which security reports indicate was carefully planned as the bridge linking the village was said to have been destroyed to deny security forces access to the area during the attack,” the statement said.
Governor Lalong again warns criminals that they will be pursued, arrested, and dealt with, no matter how long it takes, as his administration will not allow the reign of terror to persist and rubbish all the investments made in restoring calm in the State, ” it added.
Meanwhile, ASP Ubah Gabriel, the state police command’s spokesman, acknowledged the attack but said further details will be released later.
According to a resident of the region, Yakubu Bagudu, more than 30 persons were slain in the Tuesday midnight attack, according to Ng Times.
Bagudu further informed our correspondent that some of the victims had their bodies burned after they died.
