Ikama Kato, a suspended youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP )in Adamawa State’s Hong Local Government Area, has been charged with insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Kato, who has been remanded in custody, is accused of insulting President Buhari and the SGF, who is from the same region as him, on Facebook.
Kato had reportedly called out the two leaders about the growing incidents of insecurity in many areas of the nation, notably the recent attacks in his area by armed individuals thought to be Boko Haram members, according to Ng Times, but the subject has now put him in hot water.
Kato was alleged to have filmed and released a video in which he called the SGF a “disappointment and a failure” and characterized him and Buhari as “powerless guys.”
The Hong branch of the PDP suspended the young leader after the video went viral, charging him of using obscene language against the SGF and Buhari.
After the suspension, the youth leader ultimately apologized.
According to Punch, another group, Adamawa Concerned Citizens, led by Hussain Gambo, took up the case and brought Kato before a magistrate’s court.
When the case was heard before the Chief Magistrate Court IV in Yola, Mr Dimas Gwama, the Chief Magistrate, ordered the accused to be detained in custody until August 2.
Meanwhile, Senator Anthony Adefuye, a senior member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has claimed that certain Nigerians have opted to find nothing positive in what President Muhammadu Buhari is doing.
Buhari, according to Adefuye, is the finest president Nigeria has ever had. He is also a member of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
