The ongoing impasse in the Peoples Democratic Party took a new twist as party chair, Uche Secondus has broken his silence on the PDP problem, revealing additional details about the individual attempting to destabilize the party.
According to the NG Times News Online, Prince Uche Secondus, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disclosed that a powerful party leader is attempting to take the PDP away from him.
Uche Secondus, who spoke on Wednesday, also said that someone is attempting to smear his reputation.
The person is pushing for a temporary arrangement in the shape of a caretaker committee, according to the PDP chairman, so he may take over the party structures.
The alarm raised by Secondus was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, titled, ‘Who is after Secondus and why is somebody in love of caretaker?
The statement reads in part: “The media office of the National Chairman is privy to intelligence that the strong party chieftain bent on hijacking the party structure for destruction is still on the loose with the main agenda of denting the image of Prince Uche Secondus the National Chairman.
“Reports reaching this office show clearly that this character is deploying all devious means to try and diminish the person and character of the National Chairman with a view to having his way of ultimately hijacking the structure for his disproportionately large ambition.”
Remember that the departure of seven members of the PDP National Working Committee, who stated that they could no longer work with the party’s national chairman, has thrown the party into yet another crisis.
Following their resignations, anticipation grew that Uche Secondus, the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Chairman, would be shown the door (PDP).
On Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Working Committee (NWC) deliberated on the future of the party’s embattled Chairman.
Senator Joy Emordi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.
On Wednesday, August 4th, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, officially welcomed the Anambra politician into the party in Abuja.
Senator Emordi explained why she left the PDP for the APC by stating that the ruling party has become more appealing by demonstrating dedication to the people of the southeast, and she believes the APC will continue to do so.
