‘Made in Lagos’ by Wizkid Leads Billboard World Album Chart

The fourth studio album by award-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid, Made In Lagos, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard world album chart.

The achievement comes 10 months after Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records launched the record.

In November 2020, the album debuted at number two on the World album chart, where it remained a total of 41 weeks.

Early this year, Made In Lagos began to achieve international acclaim after various international celebrities lent their support to the album’s eleventh song, “Essence.”

In July, the song ‘Essence,’ starring Tems, made history by being the first Nigerian single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and Global 200 music charts.

It was also the first African album to debut in the top ten of the Spotify Global Album chart just a week after its release.

Wizkid collaborated with Justin Bieber, a Canadian singer, on a remix of Essence earlier this month. The remixed version of Essence, dubbed “song of the summer,” is currently No. 1 on the Billboard world digital song sales chart as of Tuesday.

Wizkid also confirmed the Made in Lagos deluxe album’s release date ahead of his UK tour.

The new album, which includes 18 tracks, will be released on Friday.
