Five people were killed in a new attack by gunmen thought to be Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday in Plateau State, in an area called Chando-Zrrechi (Tafi-Gana) of Miango District in Bassa Local Government Area.
Gunmen alleged to have attacked the settlements early in the morning, firing intermittently, also murdered another of Irigwe’s sons in Dong village.
“As the Irigwe nation continues to receive attacks from left right and centre over the unfortunate incidence of the Rukuba road attack on innocent commuters which the Irigwe nation knows nothing about and we have continued to distance ourselves from it,” Danjuma Auta Dickson, Secretary-General of the Irigwe Development Association, said in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos on Wednesday.
However, one of our villages, Chando-Zrrechi (Tafi-Gana), was assaulted by Fulani herdsmen yesterday night, August 17th, 2021.”
So far, five persons have been reported deceased at Tafi Gana hamlet in Miango District Irigwe Chiefdom, according to him.
He went on to say that this is in addition to another Irigwe son who was slain on the evening of August 16, 2021 at Dong village.
Security operatives and the plateau state government, according to the community leader, must put an end to the senseless deaths.
He went on to say that if nothing is done to stop this dreadful trend, the Irigwe people will be wiped off the face of the planet.
We regard this as ethnic cleansing, and the culprits must be brought to justice as soon as possible.”
