Update On Air Crash That Killed Army Chief Attahiru

Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has updated the recent air crash in which Army Chief Attahiru was killed a few months ago.

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) reported that a preliminary report of an aircraft crash killing the late Chief of Army, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and another 10 would be released within a week, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) reports.

AIB Commissioner Akin Olateru reported this on Thursday, 8 July in Abuja, at the Bureau for the release of 8 flight accident reports.

Recall NG Times reported the death of the Army Chief Attahiru in an ill-fated military aircraft.

However, Olateru pointed out that making the report public would be a prerogative of the military.

“Recall it is a NAF aircraft but unfortunately happened at the civil airport. So graciously the NAF felt we could be of assistance and then they commissioned us to assist in investigation, which is ongoing and if the NAF makes that public is not our call.

“This is because it’s not under the purview of the AIB. But within the next one week, for us, the preliminary report will be ready,” Olateru said,

Olateru added that the recent release of eight aircraft accident reports to the public was the biggest haul since the establishment of AIB.
