Nnamdi Kanu has described how he was detained and abused for eight days in Kenya.
Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has revealed details of his capture and alleged mistreatment by Kenyan authorities, according to NG Times Online News.
According to NG Times, he told his defense lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, about the admission.
The IPOB leader was arrested and jailed for eight days by Kenya’s Special Police Force before being handed over to their Nigerian equivalent, according to the lawyer who met him at the Department of State Service, DSS.
Remember that the DSS had previously allowed Kanu’s legal team to visit him where he was being held.
Ejiofor claimed his client was caught in Kenya on June 18 and detained and mistreated until he was flown back to the country last Sunday, shortly after the visit on Friday evening.
His Facebook statement stated as follows:
“Update on today’s meeting with MNK, July 2nd, 2021:
My client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was kidnapped by the wretched Kenyan Special Police Force on June 18, 2021, at their International Airport, and brought to a secret location under humiliating conditions.
He was tortured and subjected to various types of inhumane treatment, which exacerbated his health problems. He was illegally imprisoned in Kenya for eight (8) good days before being transferred to Nigerian counterpart.

He was allegedly investigated on a false charge while in their custody, reportedly awaiting his release after their investigation revealed that he was innocent of all the false accusations. Later, they enlisted the help of their Nigerian counterpart.
Before the illegal handover to their Nigerian equivalent, the Kenyan government was deeply implicated in my Client’s kidnapping, incarceration, and ill-treatment.
Due to the dehumanizing treatment he received, a scan of his heart revealed that it had enlarged by 13%. For him, a proper medical assessment and treatment will be required right away.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu conveyed his goodwill message to all Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB family members worldwide, and craved for your unrelentless prayers.
We are going back to the Court for the needful. Other details cannot be entertained here.
His fortified legal team will address these infractions at the proper forum as we progress. Other details on our legal strategy, may not be made public.
