Messi Finally Grabs Elusive Copa America Trophy (VIDEO)

Lionel Messi finally got his hands on a senior international trophy with Argentina in Saturday’s Copa America victory over Brazil, after falling short for about nine time in his international appearance.

In the first half, Argentina took the lead thanks to Angel Di Maria, who scored the game-winning goal after the left side of Brazil’s defense fell asleep, allowing him to dart in and chip a hapless Ederson.

In what was his fifth major international final, Messi finally got his hands on that elusive title thanks to that goal.

Messi and Colombia’s Luis Diaz tied for the most goals in the Copa America competition, each scoring four times.

The Barcelona forward opened the tournament with a goal against Chile before completing thee group stage with a brace against Bolivia.

He added another in a 3-0 quarter-final win over Ecuador, as well as converting in Argentina’s semi-final shootout victory against Colombia.

Messi was named the Copa America tournament’s best player following the triumph.
