Wijnaldum Joins PSG on Free Transfer After Liverpool Departure

Georginio Wijnaldum has put pen to paper for a three-year deal at Paris Saint-Germain, PSG ahead of his Liverpool departure.

After failing to reach an agreement with the club over a contract extension, Wijnaldum addressed his final farewell to Liverpool fans after the team’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2020-21 Premier League season.

Barcelona had been tipped as the most likely next destination for the 30-year-old, but PSG won the race to get him on a free transfer in the end.

“Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a new challenge for me,” the former Feyenoord, PSV, and Newcastle United midfielder told the PSG website. I’m joining one of Europe’s top teams, and I want to give everything I’ve got to this enormous endeavor.
