It is so ironical and equally annoying that a country where the government has failed to tackle insecurity, which rears its ugly in form of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism, can painstakingly go through the rigours of arresting a secessionist and revolutionary like Nnamdi Kanu who isn’t even based in the country in the first place.
Without mincing words, the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu shows clearly that the Nigerian government has the wherewithal to make insecurity in Nigeria a thing of the past but choose to respond reluctantly or remain indifferent to the state of insecurity despite its ravaging impacts in the country.
It is crystal clear that the government is only quick to react when it perceives opposition from persons or bodies but slow to react when it comes to tackling existential problems affecting the nation. The Nigerian Twitter community in its usual fashion has expressed displeasure over the recent move by the Buhari led administration against Nnamdi Kanu.
Kelvin Odanz tweeted: The arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu just confirms one thing: The Buhari Government has all the resources needed to arrest those behind kidnapping, banditry and terrorism in Nigeria. They know exactly where they are and how to get them. But like TY Danjuma said, THEY COLLUDE!!
Nefertiti added:So the Buhari federal government could swiftly arrest IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in the UK, & extradite him to Nigeria. But Sheikh Gumi is still roaming freely with bandits, granting interviews, & asking for millions of Naira & amnesty for terrorists. ONE NIGERIA INDEED!!
Our Fav Online Doctor tweeted: Federal Govt has arrested Nnamdi Kanu- all the resources available was deployed to arrest and extradite the man back to Nigeria.
So how about the leader of ISWAP?
How about Shekau’s successor leading Boko Haram now?
When are we going to use all we have to get them? Or no need?
The Nigerian government never seem to amaze its citizens. The government is only quick to respond to opposition and arrest those who pose as threats to the administration. But what about the masses who clamour for better governance?
What Are Your Thoughts On The Rearrest of IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu?
