It was a big shock to many when it was reported that the roof of the National Assembly was leaking despite the billions of naira set aside for its renovation last year. An early morning downpour on Tuesday revealed the leaking of the roof.
The incident shows that the money reserved for renovation was diverted for some other purposes.
Here are some interesting reactions from Nigerians on Twitter:
Aproko Doctor tweeted:The National Assembly had a leaking roof that forced senators to leave the building.
This was the same building that billions of Naira went into “renovation“

Wale Adetona wrote: What happened to the N37B approved to renovate the National Assembly in 2020? It’s not even a year yet and the structure is leaking when rain falls. This country truly deserves a YouTube channel.

National Assembly Abuja today..
In 2020. 37 billion Niara was approved to renovate it🤣. Chaii Zoo. Where is the money? https://t.co/Bm41VZTAez
Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore also tweeted: The rubber stamp @nassnigeria could not fix a leaking roof after budgeting N37b to fix the NASS complex. #RevolutionNow
The money was obviously used for some other purposes; not to renovate the building.
