It is not a new phenomenon for a government to have critics. It is in fact a natural feature of democracy. The Buhari administration is no exception to this rule; the administration has garnered a lot of critics over the years.

He has been a staunch critic of the Buhari in recent years. The preacher cum political activist who was a political aide to Goodluck Jonathan has been very critical of the Buhari administration. He has frequently used his social media handles to criticise the administration.
In February 2020, he tweeted: General @MBuhari is an all-round failure. The economy is worse than he met it. Human rights are much worse than he met them. And our security is the worst it has ever been since the civil war. The Shagari government, that Buhari overthrew, was not this useless!
This is just one of his numerous criticism against the president via social media. Reno Omokri was also one of the advocates of the nationwide #ENDSARS nationwide protest last year 2020.
On Friday April 2nd, 2021,the former presidential aide led a group of people to protest against President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical trip to the UK.
Condemning the loopholes in the Nigerian health sector, he questioned Buhari’s decision to seek medical attention in London. According to him, the president has not built any hospital since he took over power.
He stated that: “He left Nigeria on the day that doctors began their strike. He’s not building hospitals for people, yet he comes here to enjoy the best in a country that has law and order. ”
He also launched the #Harras _ Buhari protest when the president travelled to France for an economic summit in May 2021.
Deji Adeyanju is a social commentator, a Nigerian activist and former head of New Media for People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Deji Adeyanju as a political activist has led series of protests against the government and has also been jailed a lot of times for his vehement opposition towards the Buhari government.He led the protest for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He also led the protest for the release of controversial blogger Kemi Olunloyo.
In 2019, Deji Adeyanju protested for the release of blogger and Sahara Reporters owner Omoleye Sowore.
In 2020, Deji Adeyanju led the October 1st protest in Abuja to protest poor governance of President Buhari‘s administration.
Deji Adeyanju’s most popular channel for activism is his Facebook page which has over 400,000 likes.
Omoyele Sowore is a is a Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner, former presidential candidate, and founder of an online news agency Sahara Reporters. A staunch critic of the Buhari administration, Sowore was arrested by the DSS in August 2019 for leading the Revolution Now protest against the Buhari administration.He was later charged with “conspiracy to commit treason and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari”. He was eventually released in 2019 after domestic and international pressure on the Buhari government.
Aisha Yesufu is a political activist and co- convener of Bring Back Our Girls movement. She was also particularly active in the ENDSARS protests organised last year October. On February 2021, she stated that Buhari acts like a leader who is not bothered about the insecurity of the nation. She said this in reaction increasing rate of abductions of schoolchildren in the country, when she featured on a Channels Television programme. Aisha Yesufu is also active on social media and frequently expresses her dissatisfaction with the Buhari government via her social media handles.
