Nigerian Striker Wins Belgian Player of the Year After Incredible Season

Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu has won the Belgian Player of the Year award and Golden shoes after an impressive season with his Belgian club side, Genk. With 33 goals to his name, there could have been no better choice for the award.

The 2020/2021 season has rounded off and the striker didn’t just emerge as the highest goalscorer, he also had five assists to his name. He was inarguably the most instrumental player for Genk this season. His ruthless consistency was certainly of great help to his club.

His terrific performance of course did not go unnoticed. The 26- year old football star was named the Jupiler Pro League Professional Footballer of the Year on Monday night at the award ceremony.

The former FC Midtjylland star made the headlines almost every week. He smashed 35 goals in all competitions to help Racing lift the Belgian Cup and finish runners-up on the First Division A table to champions Brugge.

The Nigerian star beat his close competitors – Club Brugge’s Noa Lang and Beerschot Raphael Hoizhauser. No one has scored more goals than Onuachu making him the winner of the Golden Shoe award and Belgian Player of the Year. He also won the Belgian cup title this season.

It us indeed a well deserved award for Paul Onuachu.
