Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, died in an air crash on Friday around 6:00 p.m.
On Friday, a military Beachcraft 350 carrying him crashed at Kaduna International Airport, killing all passengers.
On an official visit to Kaduna, the top military officer was present. Attahiru’s aides have also died.
Recall President Muhammadu Buhari named Attahiru as one of the Service Chiefs in January 2021 and was subsequently announced the Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, the position he held until the ill-fated airline crash
In a tweet, Nigerian Air Force Director of Information Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet confirmed the mishap.

“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred near Kaduna International Airport this evening.
“The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon. Edward Gabkwet Air Commodore Director of Public Relations and Information 21/5/21.”
Akin Olate, Commissioner of the Accident Investigation Bureau confirmed the sad incident.
“Beachcraft 350,” says the narrator. There are 8 souls on board. Sadly, they’re all dead,” Olateru said.
