Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester City are in top shape for the race to end the season in the top four. As it stands, these three teams have the opportunity to finish ahead of one another if any slips.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has however called on his players to “step through the door” as they look to seal a place in the top four in the Premier League.
Recall Chelsea’s win against Leicester City on Tuesday night afforded the Reds the opportunity to move into the top four with victory against Burnley on Wednesday, with Liverpool occupying fourth spot ahead of the final day of the season. While Leicester City slip to fifth on the table.
Liverpool are level on points with Leicester City, but ahead of them by four goals on goal difference, while the Reds sit one point behind Chelsea in third, but with a better goal difference.
As a result, Liverpool could still take advantage of any slip-ups by Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side against Aston Villa to finish third, although Klopp has urged his players to focus on themselves, and not what is happening elsewhere.
Despite Leicester’s defeat at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, a top four finish is still possible for Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes, who entertain Tottenham at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
And although Leicester can still move above Liverpool with a big win against Spurs, Klopp has said that is not something his players can control, calling for the Reds to only concentrate on getting their own job done at Anfield.
