The first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari paid a visit to the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru. The wife of the number one citizen.
Aisha Buhari made this known via her Twitter handle. She tweeted: “I paid a condolence visit to the Family of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.“
The death of the Late Chief Of Army Staff and the other military officers aboard the ill-fated aircraft is a monumental loss to their families and the Nation at large.
President Buhari’ s absence from the burial of the late Chief of Staff had drawn the ire of the public. Political activists and citizens have labelled Buhari’s indifference irresponsible.
Popular anti – Buharist and political activist, Reno Omokri has been quick to point examples from world leaders and even Buhari’s predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, who took out time from their busy schedule to attend the burial ceremony of notable citizens who had died while serving the nation.
The presidency, in response to the criticism have stated that it would take the president 48 hours to get ready his security personnel to attend the burial. This lame excuse has not in anyway calmed the nerves of angry Nigerians. Perhaps, the first lady’s visit is only a way of playing to the gallery — a way of making the criticism against the president reduce.
The Chief of Army Staff died on a plane crash last week Friday.
