President Muhammadu Buhari has allegedly ordered the Nigerian military to shoot on sight on anyone parading himself as herdsmen seen with an AK-47 rifle in the bush.
The President was allegedly said to have made this know through his Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu while in an interview with BBC Hausa Services on Wednesday.
Recall some arms-bearing herdsmen have been tormenting the peaceful co-existence and the unity of the country for sometimes now.
Bandits and several Fulani herdsmen operate with AK-47 and have been killing and maiming people across Nigeria, especially farmers.
Recall the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed had defended herdsmen carrying AK-47, saying they used it to protect themselves from cattle rustlers and others.
Under Nigerian law, no individual is expected to be seen with an AK-47 except the military officers, but it is very common in Nigeria to see individuals with AK-47 especially herdsmen.
Some ethnic jingoists who call themselves have however publicly displayed their ignorance by support these herdsment who bear arms all in the nam of politics.
