Chelsea football club will today know their fate as the UEFA Champions league quarter-final and semi-final draws hold today at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
Chelsea made progress to the Champions League quarter-final after seeing off Atletico Madrid over two legs, the second of which was played at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
This is following their failure to qualify to this stage in the last five years or more. Thomas Tuchel appears to have done something right in the team.
Recall Olivier Giroud put Thomas Tuchel’s men ahead in the first leg with a stunning overhead kick, and after a brilliant move featuring Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech doubled Chelsea’s lead in the second leg.
There was even time for Emerson Palmieri to get in on the action late one, and that was enough to see the Blues through to the next stage of the competition, along with two other English teams with Liverpool and Manchester City also securing safe passage.
Chelsea and their two fellow Premier League clubs now await their fate with the draw to be made later this week, and ahead of the draw, we have rounded up all you need to know.
The four quarter-final ties will be drawn, before being ascribed a number from one to four. These will then be drawn in a separate pot to determine the two semi-final match-ups.
A draw will also be made to determine the ‘home’ side in the final for administrative reasons.
