The self-acclaimed Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho has spoken ill of the traditional authority of Yoruba Obas in an online town -hall meeting recently organised.
Sunday Igboho made the derogatory statement by calling out the Ooni of Ife publicly to chastise him in an untoward manner, completely devoid of the Yoruba virtue (omoluabi).
Recall Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife warns Sunday Igboho in an interview on Arise TV, on Wednesday. The monarch warned him to resist being used as a tool in the hands of the politicians.
Igboho has been in the news after he led some youths in Ibarapa local government area of the state to Salihu Abdukadir, Seriki Fulani, leader of the Fulani group, to register displeasure over the recent killings and abductions in the area.
Oba Ogunwusi commended Igboho’s actions, saying he is “a mouthpiece for the downtrodden”.
“Let us be very objective. He (Igboho) is being a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now but my advice to him as a traditional ruler is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him,” he said.
“He (Igboho) has done well and the world has heard him but everything should be done in moderation.”
However, in a viral video, Sunday Igboho is seen chastising the Yoruba monarchs (Ooni of Ife, Oluwo of Iwo e.t.c.)

However, this action has been described in some quarters, mostly amongst some Yoruba as unruly and barbaric, one which is very antithetical to the values and virtue of a true descendant of Yoruba.
