Chelsea have again lost their first legged game against a hungry Liverpool team in the second game of the 2020/2021 Premier League season.
The 2- 0 win for Liverpool means Chelsea have lost four consecutive matches against a Liverpool side in the Premier League matches.
The first half ended in a stalemate, but the second half was eventful from the beautiful build up to Saido Mane’s Liverpool first goal.
It was, though, Liverpool’s determination and ferocity – summed up by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah that forced Chelsea side into blundering although the level of their mistakes were their own making and will be a significant worry to manager Frank Lampard.
The unprofessional Andreas Christensen’s foul on Mane saw Chelsea earn a red card and outright dismissal just before half-time. It was a concern to Lampard at how his team folded at the beginning of the second period before rallying. By then, though, the game was over with Mane claiming both goals with a predator’s instinct and an indefatigable desire.
No thanks to Kepa Arrizabalaga stupid mistake and a casual for Liverpool’s second as he received the ball from substitute Fikayo Tomori and seemed oblivious to the fact that Mane was closing him down as he tried to play a straight pass to Jorginho. In no time, Mane stuck out his leg, intercepted and swept the loose ball into the net.
Once down to 10-men Chelsea were pulled apart.
